How to use PCA10000 dongle and a Windows terminal app (e.g. Putty)

I have a system fully operational using the nRF8001 communicating to both IOS and Android devices using nRFUart app from Nordic as well as a custom app using the uart tx and rx pipes.

I thought it would be a trivial matter to plug in the PCA10000 dongle, flash it, and then use it as an interface between a Windows terminal emulator and my system.

The dongle is up and running properly after flashing.

Using the Master Control panel, I discover the device, enable services and can see data arriving at RX.

Is it possible, then, to use a terminal emulator like TeraTerm or putty instead of the master control panel (or in concert with it?) or the nRFUart app that that came with the Master Emulator (as part of the dev kit) to simply capture data coming over BLE?

As an alternative to TeraTerm etc., I have tried the Master Emulator nRFUart. When I run nRFUart, it correctly discovers my system, detects the RX and TX pipes and says "ready to connect" However, that is far as I get.

Thanks!
