DTM & Signal strength check Procedure by tool

Hi Team,

We are using Nordic nRF52840 in one of our projects, we want to check RF performance, so we want to use our IC is in DTM mode or continuous communication mode, so our query is that how we can set our device in DTM mode means the procedure of this?

Also, how can we set Transmission dbm?

There are one nRF CONNECT and nRF studio tool in which the DTM feature is available so I want to know can we use these tools or we have to use something else if yes then what is the procedure of that?

Hi,

 

The DTM application has a vendor specific payload command that changes the output power. Testers and proprietary control might not work with this, in which case you can also change the source code and rebuild the application.

Hi,

 

nRF Connect for Desktop and nRFgo Studio can be used to control the DUT, but only configure the DUT to enter TX or RX on a specific channel or sweep. You can not use nRF Connect for Desktop or nRFgo Studio to conduct a DTM test, or RF-PHY conformance test, for that you need to use a Bluetooth test set.

Let me clear my point one more time, my aim is to put my device in DTM or continuous Transmission mode on particular signal strength like 0dBm then what is the procedure of that process ?

• Load DTM onto your DK or DUT
• Connect it to the PC using a UART-USB COM port bridge (e.g. nRF52 DK)
• Open nRF Connect for Desktop and the DTM app
• Connect to the relevant COM port device in the menu at the top
• Configure and run

Hi,

 

No not really. You can have a look at the nRF Connect repo and DTM documentation, but that's about it. I recommend that you just try it out and acquaint yourself with it, if you do not have a spectrum analyzer you can use the RSSI application with a nRF52 DK to view the RF traffic on air.
