NRF_LOG_INFO - Intermittent in RTT Client

I have seen some variations of this issue but hoping someone can lead me in the right direction.

Similar to others, I am using NRF_LOG_INFO for debug messages. It works rock solid in the "Debug Terminal" in my Segger IDE. Never miss a message.

However, when I attempt to view messages using the J-Link RTT Client or RTT Viewer it is MASSIVELY intermittent. In fact, I miss most messages but every now and then one or two will creep in. And I am not sending very many messages. For example, I want to send a message when a button is pressed.

Like others, I believe I am using the typical proper settings. IE:

#define NRF_FPRINTF_FLAG_AUTOMATIC_CR_ON_LF_ENABLED 0

#define NRF_LOG_BACKEND_RTT_ENABLED 1

#define NRF_LOG_ENABLED 1

#define NRF_LOG_DEFERRED 1

What could be going wrong here?

Hi,

Don't see any reason for this no. I recommend to try with NRF_LOG_DEFERRED 0 to check if you observe the same then. What is the interface speed you have set when using RTT viewer? Can you try lower or higher?

Speed is 4000kHz and the NRF_LOG_DEFERRED setting didn't seem to matter.

However, one thing which made a HUGE difference was closing the IDE. If I close the IDE first, and then run the viewer the log messages are far more consistent. I might even say that they are perfect but time will tell.

So I guess my question is really: can I not run the viewer and the IDE at the same time and expect the viewer to work? (Seems like the answer is no.)

I have only used Keil IDE + RTT viewer or SES with debug terminal. Those two combinations works, but then Keil don't have any debug terminal. So I guess my observation is inline with yours.
