nrf52832 Power Cut vs System Off

Hello,

I'm developing an HID consumer control application with the nrf52832. As many ble products have, I would like to add a power off button to my pcb. Is it better to completely cut power from the chip or go into System OFF mode when turning off the device? Is there a significant difference in power consumption between the two? What do people generally do? What is the common practice?

Hello,

The chip will consume around 0.3 uA in System OFF mode (el spec. datasheet), which usually is low enough to not have any significant impact on the battery life. The reason you may want to use System OFF mode and not cut off the power is that it allows for other wakeup sources such as a button press, or even through movement if the device includes an accelerometer.
