I was trying to find out if it is available to have authentification before connection and I found this link and it makes sense to me but that Q&A has been over 4 years so I just want to make sure if something has changed about this like availability to require authentification before a connection.

According to the BLUETOOTH CORE SPECIFICATION Version 5.1 | Vol 1, Part A, page 262, BLE only support authentication after connection.
To limit the connections, you can think of using whitelist and bonding. A whitelist on the peripheral will ignore connection requests from centrals that are not in the list. Put the IRK of your trusted device into this whitelist. Bonding and pairing require the central to have the key to encrypt the link. This key is exchanged using the bonding process and stored on the phone.
