Thingy:91 doesn't connect to nRF Cloud from China

Hello,

I've been trying to get a Thingy:91 to connect to the nRF Cloud from Shenzhen, China.

The modem is updated to mfwnrf9160120 and the firmware is on thingy91_nbiot_dfu_2020-04-29_bc7ade8b.

I tried two different SIM cards, one is the iBasis SIM the device came with, the other one is a Hologram SIM.

The device does not connect and shows the following errors:

    Have you tried to update the nRF Connect for Cloud certificate for your device?

    No I haven't, but the device connected successfully to the nRF Cloud two weeks ago from here in Canada. I assume the certificate is valid otherwise it wouldn't have been able to connect from here in Canada, correct?

    I was running the same modem firmware and application. Since we don't have NB-IoT in North America the device couldn't connect to LTE initially, but then switched to fallback mode (LTE-M1) and connected immediately to LTE and the nRF Cloud.

    I haven't changed anything to the device, the only difference is that is is now physically located in China (Shenzhen).

    Any thoughts?

    Assuming that the first attempt in Canada worked then the certificate is valid.

    So for the SIM cards

    I tried two different SIM cards, one is the iBasis SIM the device came with, the other one is a Hologram SIM.

    It does not look like the IBasis SIM supports NB-IoT or LTE-M in China at the moment, here is a link(IBasis coverage) for the IoT network coverages from IBasis. 
    The same goes for Hologram SIM provider, this link(Hologram coverage) indicates that they do not support NB-IoT in China.


    Here is a list of providers that should support NB-IoT in China, according to the GSMA website (https://www.gsma.com/iot/deployment-map/#CN):

    China Mobile
    China Unicom       - This one specifically states Shenzhen
    China Telecom
