Cannot update firmware on the nRF9160-DK eval board using nRF connect V3.4.2

Hi

 AFter setting the switch sw5 to nRF91, itried to update the firmware using nRF connect V3.4.2

I got the following Error

Error while probing devices: Error occured when get serial numbers. Errorcode: CouldNotCallFunction (0x9) Lowlevel error: INVALID_OPERATION (fffffffe)

Any help in resolving my issue is appreciated.

Can you try uninstalling and reinstalling nRF Connect and installing the latest nRF Command Line Tools?

It did not work, does the SIM card have to be inserted for this step ? or another version of nRF connect?

SIM card should not have to be inserted.

What version of JLink do you have installed?

When you select your device in nRF Connect Programmer does it have three serial ports?

Can you try to click Erase all and then try to update again?

It should work with v3.4.2 of nRF Connect, but you could try with another version.

I did not install Jlink because start up guide says that Jlink is needed only for Linux or Mac. Correct?

No, you still need JLink on Windows.
