nRF51 DK as sniffer

Hi Team,

I am using nRF51 DK as packet sniffer to sniff packets between Mobile and other device. Why it captures only advertising related packets? After successful connection of Mobile and other device, sniffer doesn't capture any packet. After disconnecting, it again starts receiving packets which are of advertising type.

Please help.

I assume you are talking about the nRF-Sniffer.

In order to pick up packets sent during a connection you need to "follow" the device. This is done by using the nRF-Sniffer UI to identify the device you want to follow, and select it using arrows + return. Once you have selected the device, the sniffer should be able to follow it during the connection. Note that you are only able to select what 'slave' to follow. In other words, you will not be able to follow your mobile phone.

This is also described in the nRF-Sniffer user manual found in the install location.

I have followed the procedure but once my mobile gets connected to that device, no packets are getting captured. Mobile sends several data to that device and device gives response, but these packets are not getting captured.

Do you see the CONNECT_REQ packet sent from the mobile to the device?

nope!! only ADV_IND type packets from slave to master are in capture. after click on connect [in mobile] connection gets establish but as i can do further operations with that device but no packets are getting captured after connection.

Are you sure you have selected the device as shown here?
