Difference between advertising in IDLE mode and stopping advertisement?

Hi all,

Is there any difference between advertising in IDLE mode and stop advertising using sd_ble_gap_adv_stop(m_advertising.adv_handle)? I wonder if I need to stop the advertising completely to save power even if the chip is not advertising anymore (in IDLE mode).

Hi

When in BLE_ADV_EVT_IDLE, the radio is still enabled and will draw some current, but if you put the device to sleep using sleep_mode_enter() or sd_app_evt_wait() you should stop the radio (and other peripherals) to minimize you current consumption as much as possible.
