nRF52840 Debug IP Support

HI Team,

We are using the nRF52840 DK for our development purpose. We have some issues with USB J2 connector and unable to connect the on board debugger. We have tried the different options  like loading the j link bin  file in BOOTLOADER mode, it is taking the file but not detecting USB device. That is the reason we choosing the other options like using the Input Debugger.

  1. How to power up the nRF52840 Soc itself. with out interface board. what are changes required in nRF52840 DK board with respect to switches like SW7,SW9 and other settings.

  2. We need to connect the external debugger as input the nRF Soc itself, for that what are the additional precautions we need to take care.

3 I have tried to connect the I-jet and J-link debuggers through Debug in connector (P18) makes it possible to connect external debuggers for debugging. But we are getting some issues while connecting. Attached the error screen shot for this.

4. Could you please guide us on this issues, we have immediate deliverables to deliver, but these things giving lot of issues.

5. Any specific steps for to connect the external debuggers in easy way.

  • Hi Maromero,

Thanks for your reply. We have followed same link for Debug IP reference. When we use the IAR along with i-Jet debugger we are able to detect and connect but Application is not jumping into main() function.

    1. We have connected the external debugger to P18 Connector and changes the switches SW6 and SW7 to nrf_only and Alt modes.

    2. In post you mentioned that The reference voltage for the debug input and trace is by default connected to VDD_nRF'. This can be connected to the VDD by cutting SB60 and soldering SB59. we have not changed any thing regarding VDD by

    3. Apart from above settings any other Key_positions we need to change like SB56.

    4. For i-jet debuggers we need to change any IAR Seetings like liner or Loader files.

    Regard,

    Srinivas.V
