nrf9160dk - There was an error adding your device: nRFCode 40102

Please note about 9 days ago another user reported similar problem but is his case LED3 and LED4 were blinking. In my case after reset I see LED 3 blink and then about 30 seconds later LED 4 is on permanent. I am NOT getting the LED3+LED4 blinking phase.

I am trying to add the DK to my nRF cloud account and I get the following error message: "There was an error adding your device: nRFCode 40102: Ownership code [HWID] is invalid for device [DEVICE ID]." .

I am running the DK with 'nrf9160dk_asset_tracker_ltem_2020-04-29_bc7ade8b' firmware, and the 'mfwnrf9160120' modem.

I have updated the device's certificate which was generated in my nRF account, using the certificate manager in LTE Link Monitor.

I thought I may have generated a wrong certificate so I created a new one and downloaded to my DK a second time.

I stress I have now generated the certificate for this devkit twice and loaded into the device twice successfully

The device has LED4 on permanently and just can't add it to the cloud.

My board is version 0.8.2.

Also note that I have another DK which is version 0.9.0 and that I managed to successfully add to the cloud and can see the data come through.

Look forward to hearing from you

Mahendra

  • Hello Mahendra,

This is an issue we shall resolve.

I am trying to add the DK to my nRF cloud account and I get the following error message: "There was an error adding your device: nRFCode 40102: Ownership code [HWID] is invalid for device [DEVICE ID]." .

This message tells you that you entered the wrong ownership code (PIN or HWID) that is printed on the Nordic Semiconductor product label, or which you submitted when creating a new device certificate. Please verify that you have inputted correct IMEI and HWID/PIN.

In my case after reset I see LED 3 blink and then about 30 seconds later LED 4 is on permanent. I am NOT getting the LED3+LED4 blinking phase.

Please see the Asset Tracker documentation. Your device is connected to nRF Cloud. Has someone used this board before you? If so, the board must be deleted from that person's nRF Cloud account.

Can you please provide me a screenshot of what you see when trying to connect nRF Cloud? Also, can you please provide the log output from LTE Link Monitor?

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind

  • Hi Oyvind,
Thank you for getting back to me.

Please verify that you have inputted correct IMEI and HWID/PIN.

I did that twice and the second time with care to ensure I did not mistype.

I am not sure if it has been used by someone before because it was given to me with the anti-static bag seal broken. I have no idea who will have used it before.

Can you please provide me a screenshot of what you see when trying to connect nRF Cloud?

Screenshot of the nrfcloud portal or LTE Link Monitor?

Also, can you please provide the log output from LTE Link Monitor?
