nRF52833 direction finding

I am student and my question is in  nRF52833 how the feature of  direction finding can be used ? From my understanding it has one antenna which provide CTE or IQ samples that can be used for AoA and AoD calculation. How is it possible with one antenna. if i would like to implement this between three BLE devices how this can be done ? Is it really that i need an  antenna array wither on RX or TX side ?

second confusion is from the software part nRF SDK, from where i will get the CTE packet and how can i use it ? is there any example provided in SDK for direction finding?

Thanks in advance

  • Hi again

As I mentioned, you will need an additional antenna array so that the nRF52833 can use antenna switching in order to transmit (or receive, depending on whether you're using AoA or AoD) to/from the different antennas which will make it possible to calculate the angle of arrival/departure. This is mentioned in the whitepaper I linked to, so please take a look at that for more information.

    Best regards,
