nRF9160 DK JPEG upload using LTE

Hello!

I have a rather vague question and want to apologize for that beforehand.

I was wondering if it is possible to connect a JPEG camera to the nRF9160 DK (i.e https://www.digikey.com/products/en/sensors-transducers/camera-modules/1003?FV=-1%7C1528&k=397&fbclid=IwAR3NTHFGnJiEpWfGwTz6bSKg7yV2-JkTrDnKNj0054ebHXGIrRhyrwY5Dbc) and have it uploaded to the nRF cloud using LTE. Where it could be downloaded and/or viewed from the cloud's website. I have seen previous examples of connecting cameras to the nRF52 DK where the pictures (and videos) have been sent over Bluetooth to another device (i.e https://github.com/NordicPlayground/nrf52-ble-image-transfer-demo). 

I would love to give this a try, but I'm curious if it is possible and if I need some additional components, such as an SD card.

Well, the nRF9160 is more powerful in all aspects (CPU, RAM, flash) than the nRF52840, so I'm pretty sure you could do that. You might need extra storage if the JPEG image is too large for the built-in flash, but apart from that, it sounds plausible. Just keep in mind, though, that LTE-M has a maximum theoretical data rate of 380 kb/s (so about 100 kb/s in real life), and NB-IoT has even lower data rates.

Thank you for such a quick answer and the clarification! Do you know anything about the nRF cloud part as well? Is it customizable enough to upload pictures to their servers?

I don't know if you can upload pictures, but I looked it up and you can apparently send up to 1 million messages per account. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the size limit per message, so I'm not sure if you can use that to upload pictures. Also, the nRF Cloud seems to be only for development, so you'd need an alternative for production anyways.
