OVP, OCP on VBUS pin

Hi,

We are using nRF52840 on our product. Since we want to support USB function, we connected VBUS pin of the chipset directly to the USB connector.

We would like to know is there any over voltage protection (OVP) and over current protection (OCP) on the VBUS pin inside the chipset?

Do you have any recommendation or reference design can be shared if we would like to add external OVP, OCP protection on this pin?

Hi,

 

There is ESD protection on the pins, but there is no guarantee that it will survive exceeding the absolute maximum ratings. You should consider adding extra protection externally, see e.g. the nRF52480-DK HW design files.
