Can i scan more cells than one?

Hey there,

I am new to the community and I would like to looking for more than one cell. As I readed in another thread, it was possible with %NBRGRSRP a few month ago.

What i would like to do is to get the 3 to 6 nearby cells with their signal strength.

As far as I know, the %NBRGRSRP only response with data, if the signal strength is low, otherwise i only get the response "ok".

Is there meanwhile a workaround or solution for this problem?

Hello, my apologies for the late reply. 

The current answer I got from our team is:
Neighboring cell measurements are only valid and available when neighbors are monitored, i.e. current cell signal strength and quality does not meet the network configured level when there is no need to perform mobility related measurement procedures. For further information, see requirements on 3GPP TS 36.304.

Do I have any chance to restart the Device or switch between online and flight mode to trigger a  measurement procedure?

If network has not configured measurement parameters for nRF9160, or cell is strong and quality is good, there is no way nRF9160 can start measuring neighbors by itself.

By restarting the nRF9160, device may connect to a weaker cell or a cell which has measurement parameters defined. But this is more or less based on luck.

I came up with the same result, by reading the 3GPP - Document. (you spoke of)
