Quick start guide: Mesh demonstration

Hello,

I have multiple questions regarding BL mesh using nRF5 SDK for Mesh v4.2.0 

1) is it possible to run this example using 2x NRF52840 dongles(PCA10059) and one NRF52840 DK (PCA10056) when performed some minor changes?

2) after deciding which of the selected devices is server, client and provisioner is there automatic (writing code) way of them detecting each other or I have to connect them manually using Nordic mobile app?

3) is it possible to use NRF52840 DK (PCA10056) as programmer for NRF52840 dongles(PCA10059) or in future my custom devices in way that I flash them directly from SEGGER studio using SWD?

4) Is the master->slave relation here reversed client(master) server(slave) and provisioner(network supervisor?) ?

Hi,

1) The link you is pointing to the SDK. "run this example", do you refer to all examples from the SDK or a specific one?

2) Bluetooth Mesh is a broadcast-based network protocol, where every device in the network sends and receives all messages to and from all devices within radio range. There is no concept of connections in a mesh network. To add devices into a Mesh Network, you need to provision them into the network by using a provisioner. You can either use our Static Provisioner from the SDK or our nRF Mesh app for iOS/Android.

3) Yes, it is possible to use the nRF52840-DK as a programmer. Have a look at this and this.

4) There are not necesserily any master or slaves in a Mesh Network. 

I suggest you go through some of the Mesh documentation to get a better understanding of how mesh works. Here are some resources you can read through:

Hi,

thank you for quick response. regarding 1) I would like to run "Light switch example" and turn that to communication between all lights(synchronization) as my final project, I hope that is possible. Is it possible to run this on dongles(I see no difference between the PCA other than different pinout from the NRF52840 so it should work but asking to be sure)?
