Enable RAI config option

Hi,

I would like to enable the RAI support in the latest master branch of nRF.

Therefore I had a look at the kconfig reference:

Unfortunately, this is a undefined symbol and the application cannot be built with this parameter.

In the nRF SDK doc there is another RAI option:

but this is also a undefined symbol.

So, I tried both CONFIG_LTE_RAI_REQ_VALUE and CONFIG_UDP_RAI_ENABLE but none of them is working. (on master branch)

My question is what is the correct config option to enable RAI?

Hi Manuel,
To be able to set the the "CONFIG_LTE_RAI_REQ_VALUE" you first have to enable CONFIG_LTE_LINK_CONTROL module as it is a direct dependency.

The CONFIG_UDP_RAI_ENABLE however is just a configuration option directly in the Kconfig of the udp sample, so if you have your own project you would need to have a similar Kconfig file in your project where in your code you actually address this configuration as in the udp sample.

Hi Martin,

I enabled the RAI functionality, but it is not changing the modem behaviour at all.

Before enabling RAI the RRC Mode switches to 0 after 6 seconds and with enabled RAI it is the same.

I am using the LwM2M sample from the latest master branch. Do I need to configure something else?

The network trace shows that the device is not initiating RAI.

Hi Manuel,

Could you first verify the behavior by using the UDP sample with this functionality?
(I do not know how you have implemented this in the lwm2m sample and therefore there could be some issues there)

Are you running on the NB-IoT network?
Which modem firmware are you using?

Can you confirm that you know the Network actually support this feature?

It would be very beneficial if you could do a test with the UDP sample using NB-IoT and providing the modem trace.

I will check it with the UDP sample and keep you posted about the outcome!

 - yes, I am running on NB-IoT with the latest modem FW (1.2.1)
 - the network definitely supports this feature

Hi,

I had a look at the UDP sample and enabled it the same way in the LwM2M sample and it seems to be working fine.

RRC switches now instantly to 0.
