Can I route GND through unused pins?

I'm using an ISP1807 at 1.8v in a very space constrained and power constrained device.

Is it ok to connect unused pins to GND to make routing easier?

Pins 3, 5, 8, 10, 12, 19, 27, 29 are otherwise unused.

Does this seem reasonable?

  • Hi,

Well, yes, but as you might expect if you use those pins for anything, intentionally or unintentionally, they will be connected to ground.

Just a concern about your design though, if this is all the ground you have it will not be enough. You need to add pour in the top and bottom layers, and tie it together with plenty of vias.

    Best regards,
