How dies the EVENTS- and TASKS registers work?

I read through the datasheet of the nRF85832 to understand the peripherals a little bit better, but I got stuck while looking through the register overview (in this case for the RTC). So the datasheet defines different registers like "COUNTER" or "PRESCALER" and the registers get filled with some values, depending on the use case. But what is the meaning of "TASKS_START", "EVENTS_TICK", etc.? These registers (are these real registers?) get filled with 0 or 1 and there is no description for the bitfields available.

So what is the meaning of these registers? Do they have a special meaning?

Have you read through the Peripheral interface chapter in the datasheet?

This chapter goes through the basic building blocks of all the peripherals in the nRF52 devices, and explains the concept of tasks and events.
