Using NRF52840 on Arduino

While installing the itsybitsy NRF52840 board from Adafruit in the Arduino IDE, I encountered the following error:

"Tool nrfjprog is not available for your operating system"

I am using Raspberry Pi and Debian operating system.  Is there any support for Linux type OS for this chip/board?

Note that Arduino is not supported by Nordic - you need to go to the Arduino forums for that.

I believe Segger Embedded Studio (SES) works on Linux?

At the end of the day, it's just a Cortex-M4 - so anything that supports Cortex-M4 will do ...
