Which coax plug to use for debug? SWG SWF SWD SWH

Hi,

I'm making an new board with both nrF52840 and nRF9160. In addition to the radio ICs there will be some antenna diversity switches, chip antennas etc.

So I'd like to insert RF test pooints as coax plugs with built-in switches here and there to facilitate RF tuning. These switch plugs allow the signal to pass through on the PCB when nothing is plugged in, and to be led to  a coax or probe when that is inserted. Two questions:

- What do you think about this idea in general?

- Which family of coax cable/probe to use? On DigiKey I find SWG SWF SWD SWH and 2.24mm plug dia.

Thanks,

Børge

  • Hei Børge,

    - What do you think about this idea in general?

This is how we do it on our products.

    The nrf9160DK and Thingy91 uses MM8130-2600 and U.FL-R-SMT-1

You can get the hardware files on our product sites, nrf9160DK and Thingu:91. In the BOM you can see the connectors used for LTE, BLE and GPS antenna.

The COAXIAL-SWF is the one we use the most on the Nordic hardware both for 52dk and 91dk
