Explanation of messages sent by Thread devices

Hello

I am contacting you to have a little more information concerning the messages which are sent in the examples thread_simple_coap_client and thread_simple_coap_server.

After starting the client and the server, I did a "provisioning" and this is what I got:

I notice that some messages were sent in addition by the devices and I would like to know their usefulness.
Could you tell me what messages 4868 and 4869 do?
I notice that the 4868 message contains (in the data part) the IP address of the device that initiated the provisioning and that the 4869 message contains this same IP address with other information: what do these additional data correspond to?

Thank you

  • Hello,

I guess it has something to do with the commissioning of the device, and assigning the address when the device joins the network, but exactly what all the bytes mean, I am not sure.

Is there a particular reason why you are asking about these packets? Are you experiencing any issues when adding the nodes to the network?

    Best regards,

    Edvin
