I've been having a ton of issues getting any of the application code to run on my Thingy91. Just tried updating the Modem FW to 1.2.2, however I'm not able to place my Thingy91 in MCUBoot mode. I hold down the center button and toggle the power switch. However nRF Connect Programmer always returns an error: "Please make sure the device is in MCUboot mode and try again". Is it possible my device doesn't have MCUboot programmed on it? If not how do I program MCUboot on to it?

This is the message that you see when trying to update the modem in nRF programmer app.
Then the current application on the Thingy91 does not have the MCUboot option. To fix this you have to flash a full image application on to the nrf9160 SiP. You can find some of the full image hex files in the folder named images_full or img_app_bl in the precompiled application and modem firmware zip file. I usually like to test with at_client file and test it with the LTE link monitor app. When you have a full image on the device you dont need to flash it again with another full image unless you erase the whole device. Then you can use the hex files from the images_dfu_hex or img_fota_dfu_hex folder. (the name of the folder is a bit different in the newest precompiled zip available at our website.

Now to the programing part, if you only have a Thingy91 and a usb cable at you disposal then programming the thingy91 when it does not have the MCUboot is not possible. You need either a J-link debugger or a nrf9160DK or nrf5340DK and a 10pin connector cable.
Do you have a nrf9160DK that you can use to connect to the Thingy91 from the Debug out connector on the DK?
