Long time for GPS fix

We have the problem with GPS that it sometimes takes a long time after a cold start until the modem gets a fix. I see strongly fluctuating times between 78 s and> 600 s (I stopped at 600 s). This also happens if the modem reports 4 satellites as "used". 

The problem occurs with our own software as well as with the unchanged GPS example (nrf \ samples \ nrf9160 \ gps).

We use the nRF Connect SDK 1.3.0 and the modem firmware 1.2.2.

LTE is disabled and we use a indoor GPS repeater.

Hi,

I would recommend you to test out the updated GPS sample in NCS v1.4.0, but if a quick TTFF is what you want to achieve I highly recommend that you utilizes the Assisted GPS feature.

That can dramatically improve the time it takes to get a GPS fix.

Just check out our dedicated A-GPS sample in NCS v1.4.0 to see how fast you can actually get a GPS fix.

Are you testing with the nRF9160DK or with a custom board? (e.g. what type of GPS antenna is used, how is it located with regard to the GPS repeater device etc.)
