Initial error with nRF Connect

Hello, I working for TSS.se now selling 100.000 temperature-loggers annually. We aim to develop a new IoT based logger based on nRF52832 as a replacement.

Does following error mean the nRF Connect v3.3.0 does not work with my HP EliteBook G3 Windows 10 device, or may some scan and communication to the nRF52 development board work anyway ?

I have BlueTooth enable in my PC.

Best regards Lennart Vedin for TSS.se

  • Hi,

I think the issue here is that you are trying to use the Bluetooth chip in your computer. In order to use nRF Connect for Desktop, you will need to use either a nRF Development Kit or a nRF Dongle.

  • Ok I see.

Right now I have nRF Connect for mobile, using it to send/receive data to our nRF52832 logger. It just should be more convenient to use a PC.

Can I do similar with Windows nRF Connect v3.3.0 if I install an nRF Development Kit ? Or has Windows nRF Connect v3.3.0 another purpose then for a mobile ?

I don't aim to have a dongle since I only want to test the logger via BlueTooth.

  • Hi,

Yes, if you have a nRF DK, the nRF Connect for Desktop should be able to do the same as the nRF Connect for mobile. Open the nRF Connect for Desktop then open "Bluetooth Low Energy". Select the DK in the upper left corner. You should be prompted to flash a connectivity firmware. After you have flashed the connectivity firmware, you can scan for the nRF52832 Logger and send/receive data like the app on mobile.

    Best Regards,

    Martin
