hi support team,
is there a formula to calculate the long range distance for 1 Km e? theoretically.
thanks!

Hi William,
There is no formula that gives a practical range, but there are some theoretical formula for line of sight, based on sensitivity and bandwith. Perhaps you can use this calculator to do estimates: https://www.bluetooth.com/learn-about-bluetooth/bluetooth-technology/range/#estimator
The values given here are practical, tested outside. Theorerically you can get about 4 times range than BLE 1M (simple) for Coded S8 (125 Kbps).

Thank you Marjeris,
so in the estimator, Transmitter Antenna Gain and Receiver Antenna Gain is 0?
regards,
William.
Hi William,
Typically the gain for a PCB antenna will be from somewhere between -2dBi to +2dBi, depending on the size of your ground plane and other factors. Chip antennas usually have the antenna gain indicated in their datasheet.
