Current consumption in advertising

Hi,

I would like to know the current consumption in advertising when I set PRF = 0 dBm and I use LDO.

I read nRF52832_PS_v1.4.pdf.

23.15.2 of nRF52832_PS_v1.4.pdf states that "ISTART,TX" is 8.8 mA.

Is "ISTART,TX" the current consumption in advertising when a user sets PRF = 4 dBm and a user uses LDO?

Best regards,

Sugiyama

  • Hi,

I would recommend you to have a look at out Online Power Profiler for BLE. Here you can specify various parameters for your setup, including advertising/connection, output power, chip type, regulator, package payload, and so on, and get the average current consumption for that setup.

The individual currents for each part of the radio activity is also shown in the current diagram.

ISTART,TX is the current consumed by the radio while it is being started (before it starts transmitting). The currents for when the radio is transmitting is the I_TX currents found further above in section 23.15.2. For instance, I_TX,PLUS4dBM (16.6 mA) is the run current when the radio is transmitting  at +4 dBm output power and using LDO regulator.

  • Dear Jorgen,

    Thank you for your reply.

By using "Online Power Profiler for BLE", I could know the current consumption in advertising.

    I understand your reply.
