BLE device discovery time

Hi

I'm working on a solution with 2 battery powered BLE devices: one is a peripheral device, the other a central. Mostly the devices will be advertising and scanning, not in a connection.

Since they're both battery powered, I want to be able to optimise the advertising interval, scan window, and scan interval - to get good battery life but also reasonably low discovery latency.

Using these parameters, is there some way to calculate the expected time and maximum time for a central to discover an advertising peripheral? (ignoring RF interference...).

Unfortunately, I have not found a model to calculate that. However, what would you consider being a reasonably low discovery time?

I'd like to aim for 15 seconds, but that may need to vary depending on power consumption. There must be a model somewhere! I've looked online too and haven't found anything. I kinda assumed that Nordic would have the information. Thanks

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a public model for this, but I will add this inquiry internally as it would have been nice to have.

There are some reflections around the subject in chapter 4.3 in this paper: https://arxiv.org/pdf/1403.2919.pdf#subsection.4.3 and there are others like it it seems. But no ready made calculators I am afraid.
