QM12038 Discontinued

Hello

We are developing a unit, based on nRF9160.

In that design LTE switch QM12038 is used.

The manufacturer Qovro  has stopped production, so now we are looking for a replacement.

We like to support different frequencies, but do not need GPS, so a switch with 6 channels would be sufficient.

So far we found:   Qovro QPC6064 SP6T and infineon BGS18GA14 SP8T.

The LTE is mostly OFF, when it is not charging the battery, and LTE is active when it is charging.

1. Can these circuits do the job?

2. Does the mux work both as TX & RX in these circuits? ( Many filters, one antenna )

3. Which would suit our need best, low power when OFF, low power consumptions and minimal change to the control software. We run the system on 3V3 volt only!

Can BGS18GA14 replace QM12038 directly, without firmware changes, if the RF signal filters are remapped in the schematics?

1. You can use any RF switch as long as it can handle the power and frequency. Both parts you refer to can be used. 

2. Yes, the modem will set the switch to the correct position for the wanted frequency range. 

3. The QM12038 has a non-intuitive logic so if you replace it with something else, make sure you adjust the MAGPIO AT command to match the new switch. https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/ref_at_commands/REF/at_commands/sip_pin_configuration/xmagpio.html Other than this, there's no other changes needed to the FW.

Remember that the MAGPIO pins are 1.8 V logic. Both switches seems be able to handle that.
