Multiple APN setting on nrf9160

Hi,

Is it possible to set multiple APNs in nrf9160 and with fallbacks to next APN if one not working?

Suppose if we set 2 APNs at CID=0 and CID =1 positions using AT+CGDCONT, whether device will connect to second network APN if first is not available?

We mistakenly set network provider APN at CID = 1 instead of CID = 0, device was not connecting to the network in that case. ( CID = 0 not set)

When we set at CID=0, it started connecting to network.

Please help in understanding what will be the expected behaviour if set multiple APNs?

Thanks in advance,

Aswin

  • Hi,

What network operator are you using (and where)?

Are you using LTE-M or NB-IoT?

I have asked the modem team about the details, and according to them, the exact behavior is dependent on the network.

But it will not function as a "fallback". CID 0 is used during the attach, while CID 1 (or others) can be used to open additional PDN connections after the initial attach. However, if this is allowed, or what they can be used for depends on the network.

CID 0 is activated automatically, but the rest must be activated manually after the attach.

    Best regards,

    Didrik
