Can you let me know if overdriving (sinking too much current) will damage the IC.
I have a LED connected through a 5 Ohm resistor to a GPIO. It is set to sink the current.
I am seeing 0.9V on the GPIO pin. since the datasheet says i should see Vss +0.4v, it looks like i am driving this too hard.
is there something saying that over driving the pin, to 0.9V as I cited, will damage the IC.
If it won’t flat out damage the IC, then what are odds or probability that shortened life will occur?
From a power standpoint, 0.9V x .0033A = 3mW of power which is not much at all and I think the IC will handle this just fine, heat wise.
What I can’t know or understand is if the voltage of 0.9V will damage the circuit over time because I simply don’t know enough about the internal working s of the IC.”
