VUSB connection to GND, if USB will not be used

Hi!

Looking at the schematics for the nRF52833 reference circuitry I see that when USB is used, the VBUS is connected to the C18 capacitor, then GND, and if USB isn't used, the VBUS and DECUSB are connected directly to GND.

We're not sure if we are going to use the USB or not, so would it be ok if we connected the VBUS to C18, then didn't use the USB? by 'didn't use' I mean we might not connect the VBUS, D-,D+ lines to a USB input port, or we might not connect the DECUSB to C19 capacitor, etc.

Thanks!

  • If you don't plan to connect C19 to DECUSB then I recommend don't connecting C18 to VBUS, since if you plan on using USB you will need to have both C19 and C18.

If you are unsure I recommend you follow the reference circuit for USB. Have the footprint for both C19 and C18, and if you find out you are not using USB you can use a 0 ohms resistor instead of C18 and desolder C19.

    Best regards,
