Design antenna for Nordic NRF52832

Dear supporters,

I am designing an antenna for the chipset NRF52832. After several experiments indoor and outdoor environment, we got some issues. Besides, We got the same above problems in your Dev kit (NRF52830 evaluation kit- 400150):

  1. why do the devices have the same performance in the same circuit? With the same design in both antenna and components, although one device can communicate with the phone in 80 meters, another one only communicates with the phone in 40 meters. I used the Samsung S20 ultra as the main phone to test with official software from Nordic.
  2. The devices only work well if my phone (sources) need to be kept above devices (the distance around 0.5-1meters). Whenever I put my phone in the ground, the radius of communication is decreased dramatically around 80% percent. The same problem occurs in the Nordic development kit. I designed my antenna based on official documents from Nordic. Why we have different stages like that?

Looking for help from Nordic supporters and seniors in RF designs.

  • The exact length of the antenna is somewhat dependent on the size of the ground plane, placement of the antenna, housing and anything that might de-tune the antenna. Even if you copy the antenna antenna, you might need to adjust the length for your design. Try cutting 1 mm at the time of the antenna and check the range. If the range decreases, you have to add some length. Solder a wire to the end of the antenna and experiment with the length.
