How to get the current time (thingy91:nrf52840)

I want to get the current time on the nrf52840 side of thingy91. As an example, I think there is a method of obtaining the current time with AT+ CCLK on the nrf9160 side and sending it to the nrf52840 side by UART. Do you have any helpful samples?

Also, is there another way to get the current time?

Hi,

Using the AT command to obtain the time is and send it over uart to the nrf52 should work, other option is to ask for the time from a phone\tablet\pc that the nrf52 is connected to. 
What is the intended use case ? Might be easier to propose a solution if i know the use case\senario.

Since nrf52840 and phone / tablet / pc are not always connected, it cannot be obtained from there.

The scenario is as follows.

1. Scan with BLE with nrf52840.

2. Find a device and memorize the UUID and current time within a certain distance.

There is no sample that works with thingy91, so it would be nice if there was a reference sample.

Best way would be to request time from the nrf91 when the 52 see a UUID, you can check out the lte_ble_gateway example for som similar functionality. 
We dont have a example that covers you specific use case at the moment but feel free to link to or share any solutions you make\have.

Hi,

Not sure if its useful information but the date_time library works to get the current time based on NTP. 

I got it working for Thingy91 so I thought it could be a possibility. Then you can send this data through UART to nrf52840 if that suits your usecase.

p.s: just a suggestion based on what I understood.
