What's the version of the modem firmware programmed at the factory for the ships with the nRF9160-SICA v2?
Hello Jared,
I will look this up.
Here is the feedback I got from the team: 'There is so called Production Test Image (PTI) in nRF-9160-SICA-B1A. The production test image is meant for production tests as its name states. It cannot be used for Modem operation since it will not attach to LTE network. It is necessary to flash a "Normal" modem image in end device production after passing production tests using the PTI.'
The Modem FW version may also be read by using the AT command AT+CGMR.
How to decode the label of the shipping container is described in the Ordering information chapter of the nRF9160 Product Specification.
Are you looking into ordering parts with a specific Modem FW?
It's more of a function whether or not I should update the modem firmware or not for the nRF9160 Feather. v1 hardware I have came with v1.1.0 so having something newer would be great.
I am not sure exactly what you are asking here. In general, it is recommended to use the latest Modem FW version available, given it is compatible with your requirements, for example Mobile network operator certifications(if required) with a corresponding versions of nRF Connect SDK, and LwM2M carrier library.
The Modem FW versions are backwards compatible: Modem FW versions that support GEN2 devices should also support GEN1 devices. MFW1.2.1 or later versions supports both GEN1 and GEN2. MFW1.1.3 also supports both generations.
I think you may have overly complicated my question.
The nRF9160 gets pre-programed with a certain Modem Firmware at the factory. What is that version?
Thanks!
