Where can i download the Production Test Image (PTI) mentioned in the nrf91_at_commands document?

It is unfortunately not available for download, but it is present on devices shipped from us. This is a cut-down image containing only parts of the modem features, but we do recommend that you rather update the modem to the specific version you are going to use; then test using this modem version.

 

I have created a bug internally to properly document PTI description.

But not all commands available to the PTI version is supported by the downloadable modem firmware.  One example is the %XGPIOTEST.  Will this be added to the future modem firmware?

I have to moderate myself in this case, My apologies. I previously stated this which is not correct for your use-case:

You are ofcourse correct. The PTI has AT commands that aren't included on normal modem firmware versions.

If you require any of the features in the PTI, you should use this before programming a official modem fw onto the device for full LTE capabilities.

it seems that the PTI is necessary for complete production test. but it is only pre-programmed in brand new device and not able to get it by other ways. so if a normal modem FW is programmed, the device can no longer perform production test.

is that so?

This is correct. The nRF9160 is preprogrammed with PTI (prod. test image), and there are certain AT commands that are restricted to this PTI firmware.
