Power profile hangs after sampling for a while

Hi,

I am using 'power profiler kit 1' with the latest desktop (windows) app (nrf connect 3.6.1 and power profiler 3.0.3). The setup was working fine with the older versions of nrf connect app. But after updating the application, the power profiler just hangs after 30 - 45 seconds of operation.

Any idea how to fix this issue or how to roll back previous versions of nrfconnect and power profiler applications.

PS: The connection to the DUT are pretty solid. I have checked them multiple times.

Hi Rakesh,

I have not been able to reproduce this on my side, so I am not sure this is an SW issue. I suspect the key here is in the error message you get, though "Corrupt data detected, please check connection to PPK." Can you try to ensure that the PPK is properly connected to the DK?

I am using an external DUT. The connection is properly done. I have verified it by testing the continuity. I am wondering if the issue is with using 'power profiler kit 1' with new desktop application.

I understand. However, I am not able to reproduce this on my side using PPK1 and nRF Connect v3.6.1 with Power Profiler v3.0.3. For me it looks like a bad connection between the DK (or other debugger?) and the PPK, as that would match the error you are getting. Can you double check that?

Update: A collogue of me reports that he has seen similar issues when using a USB hub, and also with some AMD chipsets with USB problems. So that is worth looking into. How do you connect the PPK/DK to your computer? And what computer do you use (chipset + CPU)?

Oh okay. I am using HUB, let me check without HUB.

CPU is Intel i5 8th gen.

I see. It will be interesting to hear if you are able to reproduce this without a USB hub.
