Is the SD S140 v6.1.1 BLE 5.1 or BLE 5.2 compliant?

There seems to be a blanket statement of v5.1 compliance here:

https://www.nordicsemi.com/Software-and-tools/Software/S140/Download#infotabs

Does this apply to all revisions of the S140?  We are using v6.1.1 and the current version is v7.2.0.  Also, the SD Spec seems to have been updated to state the S140 is v5.1 compliant after the release of v6.1.1.

So its all a bit confusing.  Is S140 v6.1.1 qualified for v5.1 of the Bluetooth Spec?  How about v5.2?  Is there anything that states this explicitly?

Thanks!

  • Hi

The Bluetooth Core Specification v5.1 qualified listings are available with corresponding QDIDs from SoftDevice v7.0.1 and onwards, and the older versions of the S140 SoftDevice are only production tested and compatible for nRF52840, which does not support BLE v5.1

As for BLE v5.2, you will most likely need to use Zephyr and the NCS for development of Bluetooth v5.2 applications. We don't have any software supporting BLE v5.2 available at the moment, but we're working on these features in the nRFConnect SDK as of when I'm writing this. Please contact our sales department for details/a roadmap on when Bluetooth v5.2 support can be expected.

    Best regards,
