QSPI for NOR flash

Hi,

I want to read and write the data from IS25LP064A  NOR flash with QSPI. I am using the QSPI example from SDK v16. Please let me know how to get started with QSPI in order to read device_specification_id(0x9D6017) by sending 0x9f command using QSPI API's. Also please tell me how this transfer APIs works while reading and writing data from flash.

Hi,

The QSPI driver is described in the SDK documentation. The QSPI peripheral documentation also provides a lot of useful information about the commands and interface with flash chips.

You need to read the datasheet of the flash device you want to use, and check that the required commands match what is transmitted by the nRF52840. You may need to customize some of the commands to match the interface described in the datasheet of the flash chip.

Hi ,

Can u please share any example code if you have tested with external flash. I am trying to configure the flash device with default pin configurations but I am unable to read the device ID

I have not tested any other flash than the chip included on the DK. This works with the QSPI Example in the SDK. If you want to test other flash chips together with the DK, on the same GPIOs, you need to follow the instructions in my first link in this post to cut/solder the solder bridges to disconnect the flash chip on the DK and connect the GPIOs to the pin headers.
