Hi Chuck,

Which SDK and version of SDK will you use? 

See nRF5 SDK v17.0.2 Release Notes:

The following toolchains/devices have been used for testing and verification:
 
 - ARM: MDK-ARM version 5.25   
 - GCC: GCC ARM Embedded 9.2019q4.major
 - IAR: IAR Workbench 7.80.4
 - SES: SES 4.50

For nRF Connect SDK v1.4,  it requires GNU Arm Embedded 9-2019-q4-major. See the installing-the-toolchain documentation.
