Testing with Pure NB-IOT device with Thingy91 DK board with CMW500

Dear all,

My CMW500 have NB-IOT option only (NO CAT-M option is installed) and I would like to see how to setup CMW500 (NB-IOT mode ONLY) to communicate with Thingy91DK for RF measurement.

In fact, my Thingy91DK have installed an software to be able to connect to local NB-IOT service provider to connect to Nordic Cloud service.

After this, I plug in R&S Test SIM to Thingy91 board with cable connection to CMW500 with proper channel setting.  

I can see the connection can be established originally as follows:

However, it will run some time ago, the connection is dropped and "UL out of Sync" msg is appear and then RRC state is changed to idle (like this)

I just want to measure the RF performance so I need to keep the connection for measurement.  Please advise me how to achieve it?

Hi, can you try to load the following NB-IoT signaling configuration file:

Also try to set the connection pattern to Alternating UL/DL.

Hi,

When I load the configuration file into CMW500 and run the testing again, the connection between DUT and CMW500 can be last for longer time for making Tx  / Rx measurement but RRC connection is still released for a while (like this).  

I need to restart the DUT to make further testing.  Is there any suggestion on the UL/ DL setting that I can keep RRC connection for a bit longer time for more testing?

Hi, You can choose to never release the RRC connection from the Config menu. Or you can choose a longer "inactivity timer" before the connection is released.
