nRF5340-PDK no power when board mounted

I always put stand-offs on development boards, when you spill liquid and the DK is on the table top bad things happen, on this nRF5340-PDK when I added a stand off to the mounting hole next to the power switch the unit becomes intermittent, when it does light LED 1 it is weak and the computer doesn't see any ports but most of the time there is nothing, no power at all. Remove the stand off next to the power switch, it starts right up, bright LED's and computer sees COM ports. The stand-off devices are plastic, non-conductive and only finger tight.

Has anyone else ran into this?

  • Hello,

I am not aware of any issue, but I will report it internally to check if this is something that should be improved/looked into.

FYI: I recommend to order a new nRF5340-DK now (with the production version of the nRF5340), since the nRF5340-PDK (preview DK with early silicon of the nRF5340) is no longer recommended for development.

    Best regards,
    Kenneth
