How to make nRF51422 to compatible with BT 2.0/2.5/ EDR

As I am using nRF51422 EK (Evaluation kit), would like to know how to test with BT2.5 or lower version. Is this has backward compatibility. As when I give option of FLAG other than

BLE_GAP_ADV_FLAG_LE_LIMITED_DISC_MODE it stops advertising. How could how make it compatible for other previous version of BT

The hardware only supports Bluetooth Smart; it's not compatible w/ older Bluetooth specs.
