nRF9160 firmware version vs ncs version

Hi!

My apologies if this question has been asked and answered previously (searched, but didn't find).

We are still developing with ncs version 1.3.2, but would like to benefit from the improved GPS functionality in nRF9160 FW version 1.2.2. Since this FW has issues, that means we would like to use FW 1.2.3.

Do you recommend against using FW 1.2.3 with ncs v 1.3.2 so that we should stick to FW 1.2.1 until we have time to migrate to 1.4+?

Best regards,

Per

  • Hello Per,

NCS 1.3.2 has been tested with mfw_nrf9160_1.2.1 which verifies full compatibility. However, there should not be an issue to upgrade to e.g. 1.2.3 as long as the newly added features do not need any changes in application FW. The bsdlib changelog can provide a better answer to what is needed.

I suggest testing with one or two devices running NCS 1.3.2 and mfw 1.2.3 to confirm functionality.

Let me know if anything is unclear.

    Kind regards,
    Øyvind
