Hi,
The nRF9160 can be used with any SIM card that
1. Follows the necessary specifications. See SIM card interce for more information.
2. The subscription supports LTE-M or NB-IoT.
There might also be some additional caveats depending on the carrier, and certifications. Not all carriers allow unknown/uncertified devices onto their network.
I don't think I have seen a case where 1 were a problem, but I have seen many where 2 was the problem.
Feel free to use whatever (compatible) SIM card you want.
Best regards,
Didrik

I tried to activate another sim in this window but show me an error, to activate a sim that not belong to iBasis I must use a different method?
thanks

Yes.
You can only activate iBasis SIM cards through nRF Cloud.
If you are using other SIM cards, you must ask your operator how to activate them.

Yes. See the DK documentation for more information: https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/topic/ug_nrf91_dk/UG/nrf91_DK/sim_esim.html
I understand, thank you
one more question, Once activated by the operator method, just I put the new esim or nano sim on board and that's all? without add the new sim on nrfcloud

Yes, that should be enough.
There is no need to register a SIM card to nRF Cloud (or use nRF Cloud at all) for the nRF9160 to work.
nRF Cloud is simply a platform provided to showcase the nRF9160, aid in development, and other services (such as A-GPS or activating and managing iBasis SIM cards).
Hi Didrik
thanks for your answers, now the board is working with a sim of an other provider without problems.
