nRF9160 - 5.34 Personalization of modem %XUSIMLCK

I'm trying to better understand application of %XUSIMLCK.  Can we use this to prescribe a list of preferred carriers, for instance through the PN facility - network personalization.  Is there a read command?

We are used to using at+cpol on other modems to read and control the preferred network operators list while roaming.

  • Hello!

I will have to check with the modem team on the details here, but based %XUSIMLCK-documentation I can confirm that there are no read command. From my understanding it seems like you can have a "list" of up 24 supported networks using different pairs of MCC and MNC.. Will get back to you with confirmation on this.

    Best regards,

  • Hi again!

I got this back from the modem team:

Device personalization a.k.a. simlock is the feature where device is configured to work with predefined SIM cards.

The personalisation features work by storing information in the device which limits the SIM cards with which it will operate The information stored to device is compared against the SIM/USIM whenever the ME is powered. If a check fails, the LTE operations are not allowed.

24 personalization codes can be stored to device. The customer should be noted that usage of %XUSIMLCK will limit the end users possibilities to select a network carrier.

More information available in 3GPP TS 22.022

Based on the information conveyed here you cannot use any other carriers other than the ones allowed by personalization, meaning that it could be problematic if none of these are present. Hope this information finds you well.

    Best regards,
    Carl Richard
