MDK Version

I recently switched from 52832 development using IAR to 52833 development using SES. As a result, I downloaded all new versions of the SDK, softdevice and, of course, SES. I had started by using the package that is installed with SES and then went to the SDK download: nRF5_SDK_17.0.2_d674dde. I kind of have my own system of storing source code, so I was copying the SDK files into it and ultimately ended up with one SES installation and a parallel installation based on the SDK download.

That's when I noticed that the MDK version (8.36.0) in the SES installation is newer than the latest SDK download MDK version (8.35.0). Just wondering why that is and if I should be looking for a later SDK download. Or maybe I should be using the SES version.

The SDK Release Notes tell you what versions of tools they are tested against.

It's best to stick to the tested version - Segger is an independent company, so they don't necessarily keep compatibility with Nordic SDKs (or any other 3rd-party stuff).

You can download earlier versions of SES from the Segger site.

The latest nRF5 SDK is 17.0.2:
