Should we update Nordic nRF5 SDK?

My company produces smart helmets and our products have always been using nRF5 v11 SDK on nRF52 chips for almost 5 years now. The latest nRF5 SDK is already on v17 https://infocenter.nordicsemi.com/index.jsp?topic=%2Fstruct_sdk%2Fstruct%2Fsdk.html&cp=7 

For our next new product, my developer suggested to update the SDK to a later version. I am wondering if there are any real benefits to doing so? The only concern I could think of was the perceived risk of end-of-life/support.

Hello,

I don't see any issue continue using nRF5 SDKv11 if you are developing on the nRF52832 and have already a stable product. If you want to use different variants of the nRF52-series (or want some of the new or improved features) you may need to transfer to a newer nRF5 SDK. One thing you should double check though, is that for the nRF5 SDK v11 there was an important errata fix missing (or not found yet), so make sure that your system_nrf52.c include errata_108() fix, if not you should download a newer nRF5 SDK and make sure you update this file in specific.
