Unable to perform battery power profiling

I have Power profiler kit 1 which was working fine. I have updated my nrfconnect app and since then on my power profiler kit, I am unable to perform battery power profiling of my external device as well as nordic SDK nrf52840.

Also when I was able to connect then the data was getting corrupted after 1 min each time.

Please suggest what could be wrong.

  • Hi, sorry for the late reply. We have been trying to reproduce the issue, without any success. I've tried both my Windows and Ubuntu computers, and it works just fine, even long after 1 minute. Do you see the same problem if you use a 10 second window instead of a 1 minute window?

Can you please post information about your computer setup, CPU, RAM, OS, etc? Thanks.

There is a new update to the Power Profiler application (version 3.1.0). Have you updated to this version, and do you see the same issue?

  • yes, I am updated to version 3.1.0.

    OS: Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS

    Processor: Intel® CoreTm i5-6300HQ CPU @ 2.30GHz × 4

    Ram: 8GB.

Now I am not able to perform battery power profiling for even 10 seconds.

Could it be something related to hardware?

  • Are you using a USB hub? There is quite a lot of data being transferred between the PPK and the PC, and we've seen reports earlier suggesting that USB hubs may cause issues. Can you try to plug the PPK directly into the PC, and also try to use another USB cable?

If you are able to try this on another PC as well, then we can see if the issue follows the PPK/DK hardware or not.

  • No, I am not using a USB hub. I am doing it on the direct USB port of my laptop.

I will try on another PC and let you know.
