Do I have to use the corresponding NCS version if I plan to have Verizon certification?

The modem firmware version 1.1.4 has been certified by Verizon, and the corresponding NCS version is v1.4.2. Now Nordic has released the NCS SDK version v1.5.0. This version fixes some bugs and the modem library is also updated , I think the NCS SDK v1.5.0 is better. I want to use this v1.5.0 version for development. Will this affect our products' follow-up Verzion certification?

Because our products need to be certified by Verizon, I am now considering which NCS SDK version to use for development. Nordic’s official website shows that the modem firmware v1.1.4 and the NCS SDK v1.4.2 have passed the Verizon certification; The v1.1.4 modem firmware and v1.5.0 NCS SDK have not been certified by Verizon. Do I have to use the v1.4.2 NCS SDK? Can I use v1.5.0 NCS SDK for development?

Mobile network operator certifications

thanks.

  • Our product uses Verizon's sim card, which requires Verizon certification. Our product features do not need to use Verizon Wireless network, Our function uses mqtt protocol to communicate with Azure iot hub. What I want to ask is, can I use v1.1.4 modem firmware and v1 .5.0 NCS SDK version development, instead of v.1.4.2 NCS SDK version development, do I have to wait for Nordic to use v1.1.4 modem firmware and v1.5.0 NCS SDK to pass Verizon certification before it can be used.

    thanks
